COVER: The Swell Season -- "Two-Headed Boy" (Neutral Milk Hotel)

The Swell Season is a folk rock duo most notably known for staring in the film Once, which is one of my favorite musically inspired films of all time. Recently, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, both of The Swell Season, stopped in Chicago to work on a little covers project for the A.V. Club. The concept of A.V. Club's Undercover will be explained in the video along with a brilliant cover of an indie gem. Enjoy!

*NSYNC // "That Thing You Do" ...Yep I Went There...

After my post about Fountains of Wayne the other afternoon I was sent a text from my roomate asking if I ever had seen That Thing You Do, a film written and directed by Tom Hanks from 1996. He was curious because Adam Schlesinger, bassist and songwriter for Fountains of Wayne, wrote a good amount of the songs for the film, including the single "That Thing You Do." I soon after started to do some research of covers of this superduper pop song and I stumbled upon *NSYNC covering the song back in 1999. I thought it was going to suck, but it really wasn't that bad. I was very surprised to see that these factory-produced-pretty-faced-boy-banders had a decent amount of musical ability. I hope you enjoy...
What the hell are they wearing?

Beck -- "Ramona" (Scott Pilgrim Soundtrack)

Besides being one of my most anticipated films of the upcoming future, Scott Pilgrims Vs. The World, is also one of my most highly anticipated records of the summer. This is most likely true (never mind, only true) because of BECK, who is the man. Earlier today, the first free mp3 was released from the soundtrack and it sounds fantastic. "Ramona" was everything I wanted to hear plus some.

Fountains of Wayne -- "Sick Day"

I apologize for not posting recently. I have been pretty sick. From stomach viruses to the flu, germs have not treated me kindly this week. So, in honor of my poor health, I will post a funny, but realistic, song by one of the most under appreciated bands of this generation: Fountains of Wayne.... and I don't care what you think of Fountains of Wayne. If you have ever listened to any of their records you would realize how talented they are.

YOUTUBE: Ken Middleton -- "Just Like Heaven" (The Cure Cover)

I have just come across a fantastic cover from an unlikely source: a old white male with a ukulele. Yes, The Cure being covered on a ukulele by an old white dude. Not at all what I expected to find today, but Jesus is this great. One of the best things I have found on youtube in a while. Still not as great as this though. Enjoy!
